Edguardo Garcia, 31, of Poplar Street, Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny after he stole electric razors and a woman's watch Sunday from Kohl's department store, 290 Tunxis Hill Road.
Store security officers saw Garcia put the items in a pants pocket and an insulated cooler and then run from the store, according to the report. Officers stopped him on Villa Avenue, and Garcia gave them a false name and signed his notice of rights with that name, police said.
His real identity was determined through fingerprints and police also discovered two outstanding warrants for violation of probation.
In addition to larceny, Garcia was charged with criminal impersonation and interfering with an officer. He was released on a promise to appear May 18 in Bridgeport Superior Court. He was also charged with two counts of violation of probation and held on bonds totaling $75,000.
