An anonymous tip and a two-month investigation into local sales of illegal drugs led to the arrest Tuesday of Gerald C. Host, 27, of Bennett Street, Bridgeport.

Host was charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, possession within 1,500 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police detectives said they received a call on their tip line that Host was coming into Fairfield to sell marijuana, and during surveillance, police said they observed him do so on multiple occasions. After securing a warrant, police searched his Bridgeport residence and car, where they said they found a "large amount" of marijuana packaged for sale, as well as scales and pipes. His home is located near a day-care center, according to police.

Host was released after posting a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear March 14 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
