A 52-year-old man was found dead Wednesday morning in his car, which was left in the parking lot of the Fairfield Elks Lodge on Brookside Drive.
Foul play is not suspected in the death of the town resident, Deputy Police Chief Chris Lyddy said.
The man’s identity was not released by police.
A member at the Elks Club called police about the discovery shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived they found the man reclined in the driver’s seat. He appeared to have been dead since the preceding night, police said.
A number of empty containers for sleeping pills and alcohol, according to the report.
Lyddy said the man had suffered from medical problems.
