FAIRFIELD — Police charged a man with burglary after he was found inside a Commerce Drive business early Saturday morning, April 15.
Michael Marzan, 32, of Thompson Street in Stratford, told police he sometimes went into Champion Maintenance Services at 301 Commerce Drive to sleep when he missed the last bus home. He told police, according to the report, that it was the safest place to sleep.
An officer spotted Marzan walking down Commerce Drive around 2 a.m., dressed in black and carrying a backpack and a yellow bag. After parking down the street, the officer began looking for Marzan and saw him sprint behind the Commerce Drive building. The exterior of the building was searched and an open window and unlocked door were discovered. Marzan was found on the floor of the maintenance service offices on the second floor.
He was charged with third-degree burglary and criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny. Marzan was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport on April 24.
