A 54-year-old homeless man is in critical condition condition at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport after he apparently fell off his bicycle Wednesday night.

The man was discovered shortly after 9 p.m. when a officer on patrol pulled into the parking lot of the People's United Bank office, 1055 Post Road, and saw the man lying on his back, his legs resting on top of the bike.

The man, who suffered a head injury and was bleeding, was unresponsive with labored breathing, police said.

Police checked the area for signs that he may have been struck by a vehicle, but did not find any. However, police are checking security video from the nearby bank for any information about what may have caused the incident.
