Man wanted by NY cops nabbed in Fairfield

A 40-year-old man from Copiague, N.Y., was charged here early Tuesday morning with being a fugitive from justice.
Police pulled over the rental car Antoine S. Land was driving around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday near Kings Highway Cutoff after the officer said the driver was acting suspiciously. The vehicle emerged from a residential neighborhood onto Kings Highway, where it drove past the entrance to Interstate 95, turned around and doubled back, according to the report.
When the officer stopped the car, Land said he was lost. Upon checking, police discovered that Land was wanted by police in Suffolk County, N.Y., on a criminal contempt charge.
He was taken into custody and held on a $250,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear later Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
