A burglary suspect pursued into Bridgeport by Fairfield police Monday, who then crashed into a car driven by a pregnant woman, was arrested by Fairfield police following his release Wednesday from St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Christopher Bond, 51, of Chamberlain Place, Bridgeport, was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, criminal attempt to commit fourth-degree larceny, third-degree assault of a pregnant woman, interfering with an officer, reckless endangerment and engaging in pursuit.

Held on $50,000 bond, he was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Bridgeport Superior Court.

The chase began on Black Rock Turnpike after Bond was seen burglarizing an office building, police said. He was pursed into Bridgeport, where Bond's car struck an SUV being driven by a pregnant woman on Dewey Street. The SUV rolled over and Bond's car was heavily damaged, but the woman was not seriously injured.
