Two men were charged Tuesday with trying to steal a $600 wheel of copper wire from Home Depot, 541 Kings Highway.

Jonathan Acuna, 23, of Hope Street in Stamford, took the spool of wire and left the store without paying, according to the report. He put the wire into a car where Gary D. Cappiello, 31, of Ledgebrook Drive, Norwalk, was waiting, police said.

The men were detained by store security personnel until police arrived to take them into custody.

Both were charged with conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear June 17 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
