FAIRFIELD - Stepping out for an important cause, a crowd strode through downtown Saturday morning - led by Police Chief Gary MacNamara in a pair of bright-red stiletto heels - for the annual "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" fundraiser for the Center for Family Justice.

The Center for Family Justice sponsors the walk to raise money for its programs to aid victims of domestic abuse, and to promote awareness about the cause during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Joining MacNamara were state and local government officials, leaders of community organizations and teams representing high schools, colleges, businesses and civic groups.
