Metro-North Railroad had planned to introduce a new schedule this morning, promising commuters better on-time and more efficient service, particularly on morning inbound trains to Grand Central Terminal.

But after a Saturday signal fire in Greenwich, there were will be changes in New Haven Line schedules today -- just not the kind that Metro-North officials had hoped.

The railroad warns there could be delays of 5 to 10 minutes until further notice because of repairs to fire damage that have limited trains to two tracks instead of the usual four in the Cos Cob area.

The railroad says crews are working "around the clock" on repairs.

On Saturday, Sal Arena, a Metro-North spokesman, said no determination on the cause of the fire had been made.
