Military historian Thomas Fleming will speak on "Alexander Hamilton: Realist and Visionary," Sunday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m., in the Pequot Library. The talk is being given in conjunction with the library's exhibit, "Alexander Hamilton: First Secretary of the Treasury," which runs through Jan. 6, 2014.

Fleming is an American military historian and historical novelist, with a special interest in the American Revolution. A frequent guest on C-Span, PBS, A&E and the History Channel, Fleming also contributes articles to American Heritage, Military History and History Today magazines.

He has served as president of the Society of American Historians and spent 10 years as chairman of the New York American Revolution Round Table, and is currently the senior scholar at the American Revolution Center at Valley Forge.

Fleming has also written many books about various events and figures of the Revolutionary era including biographies of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin.
