FAIRFIELD — A golf maintenance cart that went missing last week from the Carl Dickman Par 3 course turned up Friday night, driven by two 17-year-olds.

Police received a call around 10:44 p.m. from a Rowland Road resident, who said there were two men in the backyard. One patrol officer reportedly saw two teens “slowly creeping” out of front yard on nearby Reef Road.

Another officer reported seeing two men on a golf cart that they later abandoned in the middle of Rowland Road. He said he heard tires squealing, and then saw the two teens jump out of the car and run away.

The two, one from Fairfield and one from Easton, were taken into custody and both charged with third-degree larceny and interfering with a police officer. Police said they had received several tips via text that the stolen cart was in the beach area.

The two were released to their parents and are scheduled to appear in juvenile court on July 21.
