Music for Youth will present a performance by pianist Andrew Tyson as part of its Free Young Persons' Concert Series at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave.

Tyson is the first-prize winner of the 2011 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and Juilliard's Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, according to a release. He made his orchestral debut in his native North Carolina at age 15.

He has performed in concerts throughout the United States, Europe, Puerto Rico, Mexico and elsewhere. He is a 2010 graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Claude Frank. Tyson continues his studies with Robert McDonald at the Juilliard School, the release states.

The performance is free for families with children and geared for young people ages 5-18. Adults without children are asked to make a goodwill donation.

Free master classes with Tyson for advanced piano students will follow the concert. To register for master classes, call 203-938-3843.
