Fairfield University will present a musical performance by New York City's Bang on a Can All-Stars at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, on the stage of the school's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, 1073 N. Benson Road. A pre-performance discussion with one of the group's co-founders and artistic directors will take place at 7:15 p.m.

The program features "Field Recordings," a new multimedia project with nine new commissioned works by Tyondai Braxton, Mira Calix, Florent Ghys, Michael Gordon, David Lang and Christian Marclay.

The band has been crossing the boundaries between classical, jazz, rock, world and experimental music since forming in 1992. The group, which performs worldwide, was awarded Musical America's Ensemble of the Year in 2005.

The group evolved from Bang on a Can, a performing arts organization co-founded by Michael Gordon, David Lang and Julia Wolfe in 1987 in a marathon concert in a SoHo art gallery.

Tickets, at $35, $30 and $25, are available through the Quick Center Box Office at 203-254-4010 or online at www.quickcenter.com.
