CrossFit SOSF, a new fitness center that combines functional exercise and chiropractic technique, has opened at 338 Commerce Drive.
The 2,400-square foot center is run by Chris Skelton, a chiropractor who also has several certifications in fitness training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, CrossFit said in a news release.
Its fitness program is designed to improve physical ability across 10 standards of fitness: cardio/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination and accuracy.
The center includes a 2,000-square-foot gym and separate 400-square-foot chiropractic lab. Equipment includes free weights, a workout cage with pull-up and squat stations; five rowing machines, Olympic rings, paralette bars and kettlebells, plus physical-therapy equipment.
In addition to being a chiropractor, Skelton is a cross-fit athlete, a certified Level 1 cross-fit trainer and a certified functional movement specialist. He works with both exercise enthusiasts and those new to fitness training.
With a total of four employees, the gym is membership based. For nonmembers who are therapeutic clients, the center offers one-on-one coaching.
