A new design gallery featuring hand-painted furniture, vintage home decor, silver, glassware and bar ware has opened on Villa Avenue on the eastern side of town.

No. 299 Design Gallery opened last month at 318 Villa Ave., a one-story building between Mellville and Nichols avenues.

Owner Jackie Fucigna also offers customer interior-design services, she said in a news release

Fucigna launched No. 299 three years ago in her Fairfield home, where she conducted a series of pop-up sales events. The new 1,000-square-foot shop provides more space for full-time sales and to expand design services, the owner said.

Fucigna said she has no formal design training, but has been "a flea-market junkie for all of my adult life."

The shop's main focus is furniture, and inventory changes regularly, Fucigna said. Her design services range from help choosing paint colors to re-working existing furniture to redesigning an entire room.

The shop's name -- No. 299 Design Gallery -- derives from the street number of Fucigna's house in the Stratfield section of town, she said. Having established a customer base with pop-up sales there, she maintained the No. 299 name.
