No 'furlough' today for Indy Hall, library because of Irene

A furlough day scheduled for Fairfield's municipal offices Friday has been scaled back because of the weekend storm.
Human Resources Director Mary Carroll-Mirylees said that officials, realizing town residents might need the town services provided at Sullivan-Independence Hall, decided it will be open and staffed by mid-management and department heads. Those departments include the first selectman's office, probate, finance, health, building, zoning, engineering, conservation, public works and human resources.
The main branch of the Fairfield Public Library, at Old Post and Post roads, will also be open. Anyone required to work who was supposed to have a furlough day will be compensated, Carroll-Mirylees said, because they lost pay with furlough days under their contract.
Old Town Hall and the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, however, will not be open.
