The door-to-door Halloween trick-or-treating tradition in Fairfield was cancelled -- twice -- over the last two weeks by scary weather.

But Saturday, with nice weather in the forecast, little ghosts and gremlins are invited to get a sweet taste of the holiday at a "Trunk or Treat" event sponsored by the town at the north commuter parking lot of Fairfield's downtown parking lot off Unquowa Road.

The event, organized by representatives of Town Hall and the Police and Fire departments, will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.

There is no fee for the Halloween-delayed fete.
