As police officers tried to get one intoxicated Halloween partier out of the road in front of the Seagrape cafe just after midnight Friday morning, another decided to intervene but wound up under arrest.
Jordan T. Greenfield, 21, of Dover, Mass., was charged with beach of peace and interfering with an officer. Police said he was allegedly intoxicated, yelling and swearing at police as they were trying to control a woman who was yelling and flailing her arms in the middle of the street.
Greenfield began to swear and yelled at officers to "Let go of this girl!" He continued to try to push officers out of the way to get closer to the sergeant at the scene. Police calmed down the woman, but meanwhile other bar patrons gathered outside began yelling, creating a bigger disturbance.
Greenfield had been removed from the bar earlier by bouncers, police said, and was previously told by two other officers to leave the area.
He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Nov. 13 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
