Fairfield County Community Foundation has awarded a $20,000 grant to Operation Hope to help support the nonprofit's affordable housing program, the foundation announced.
In addition to operating shelters and a food pantry, Operation Hope helps the homeless transition to more productive lives with permanent, affordable housing, along with clinical and case management-support. The foundation's grant will go toward staffing of the affordable-housing program, the foundation said in a news release.
Operation Hope opened in 1992 and today operates 46 units of rental housing in Fairfield and Bridgeport. The housing is permanent, with many residents having maintained housing for eight years or more, the foundation said.
