8 a.m. outage update: Scattered power problems remain in Fairfield

Scattered power outages in Fairfield are still being reported early Friday in the wake of a strong rain and wind storm more than a day earlier that knocked out electric service to thousands locally and across the region.

As of 8 a.m., 16 Fairfield customers of the United Illuminating Co. remained without power, or 0.07 percent, of the 21,700 local total.

At one point early Thursday, electric service was disrupted to as much as 5 percent of the town.

In Southport, reported by UI separately, there were 6 outages early Friday, or 0.32 percent, of that neighborhood's total.
