Phyllis E. Walsh, 89, of Trumbull, wife of the late William G. Walsh, died July 3, 2010, at St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, on Jan. 13, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Millicent Nason Thomas.

Walsh was a registered nurse (RN), and served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in England during World War II. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1946 and was proud to become a naturalized citizen on Dec. 8, 1949.

She was employed as an RN by St. Vincent's Medical Center for 22 years, until her retirement in 1986. A voracious reader and member of the St. Vincent's Retirees Association, Walsh was a long-time resident of Fairfield before she moved to Trumbull six years ago.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Altman and her husband, Peter of Tennessee, Diane Keogh of West Haven, and Carlene Czesnowski and her husband, John of Connecticut; a brother, Blaine Thomas of Canada; and her grandchildren, Adam and Amy Czesnowski and Scott and Kristie Altman.

Walsh was predeceased by a grandson, Kevin P. Czesnowski, as well as four brothers.

A private graveside service took place in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
