Two Bridgeport women were charged with shoplifting Wednesday evening at Kohl's department store, 290 Tunxis Hill Road.
Louvenia Wilkes, 19, and Carita Stephens, 20, entered the store together and each tried to walk out of the store with merchandise concealed in a purse, police said. Wilkes reportedly took about $120 of merchandise, while Stephens allegedly took items worth a total of about $300.
Both women were charged with sixth-degree larceny. They were both released on a written promise to appear May 5 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
