SOUTHPORT — With Children’s Librarian Susan Ei at the helm, Pequot Library staff led Southport’s annual July 4 Bike Parade from the village to the Library’s Great Lawn for fun family festivities Monday morning.

About 150 people, decked out in red, white and blue, gathered for the march near Southport Galleries and, at a signal, headed west along Pequot Avenue to the Library’s home. There, activities had been arranged including badminton, crafts, facepainting, races, food trucks and more. With sunny, bright skies above, it was a glorious way to celebrate Independence Day.
