Pequot Library will host a talk by Peter Spiers, author of "Master Class: Living Longer, Stronger, Happier," in its Meet the Author program on Sunday, Feb. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the library's auditorium, 720 Pequot Ave.

The book explains how people live longer, happier lives through an active lifestyle that incorporates moving, thinking, socializing and creating. It includes stories from active seniors, the latest research in the fields of psychology and neuro-science and charts for developing active routines.

Spiers is senior vice president of Road Scholar, a lifelong learning organization. He is responsible for strategic planning, marketing and communications and research.

Prior to joining Road Scholar, he worked for 17 years at Rodale Inc. as publisher, group publisher, and vice president for strategic planning. He is a graduate of Harvard College, the London School of Economics and the Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. He is also the co-author of "The Group House Handbook" and editor of "The Elderhostel Odyssey."

Gretchen Goethner, member of the Fairfield Senior Center's Lifelong Learners committee, will introduce Spiers. Refreshments and a book signing will follow Spiers' talk.
