Writer Barbara Wanamaker will read her poetic work in response to the artwork on display at Fairfield University's Bellarmine Museum. The reading will take place Thursday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m. in the museum.
Wanamaker collaborated with the museum on "ekphrasis iii," responding in Haibun poetic form to works in the museum's cast collection. Haibun incorporates both prose and poetry.
Summer visitors to the museum's galleries were invited to view the works and read her responses collected in a booklet.
Wanamaker is a 2013 graduate of the university's Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program.
She graduated magna cum laude from the university in 2009 with a major in English and a minor in art history.
While working on her master's degree, she was the assistant editor for the literary journal Dogwood and co-editor of the poetry section for the online literary journal Mason's Road.
She has been published in Mason's Road and the journals Spry and Ebullience.
The reading is free and open to the public.
