FAIRFIELD — Police said a South Salem, N.Y., man rear-ended a car on Black Rock Turnpike and then took off onto Interstate 95 Monday afternoon.

Oliver Manuel, 28, was charged with evading responsibility and following too closely.

According to police, after the accident, he told the other driver that they should pull over to exchange information. Instead, police said, he took off southbound on the highway. An officer later located Manuel westbound on the Post Road, near Lacey Place. His car had heavy front-end damage, and the debris left on the scene matched Manuel’s Subaru.

He admitted being involved in the accident, police said.

Manuel was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Dec.18.
