FAIRFIELD — For a second year in a row, Clam Jam, the end-of-year party staged by Fairfield University students in the town’s beach neighborhood, could have been called “Calm” Jam.
Police reported only one arrest and a few infractions in the wake of Saturday’s event at Penfield Beach, which is now supervised by the university under a set of tightly managed rules.
And to supplement police officers deployed around the beach to ensure the party did not boil over with incidents of drunken and disorderly conduct as in years past, police officials launched a camera-equipped drone over Penfield to keep a sky-high eye on the event.
