A "pop-up" warehouse sale of upscale domestic wares, located in a former real estate office at the downtown corner of Post Road and Miller Street, attracted Easton resident Janis Bufferd to pop in on a recent afternoon.
"I was just shopping downtown and saw the store, so I came in," Bufferd said. And she liked what she saw at the Juliska warehouse store, that will be open only until April 7.
Juliska, which sells European-designed glassware, ceramics, linens, lighting and flatware, along with gifts, has its flagship store in Stamford, and another in Vineyard Haven, Mass.
"We'd like to come up a little north," said business spokeswoman Liz Hynes, adding the company would be interested in exploring a longer-term lease for the spot currently housing the pop-up store, which previously housed a real estate office. "The reaction from the town has been great," she said.
Items for sale in the warehouse store are marked off 50 to 70 percent of the standard price, and are either considered second quality or have been discontinued from the company's collection.
This is the first time Juliska has held its warehouse sale somewhere other than Stamford, Hynes said. "It kind of lets us capture a new audience.
The Fairfield store is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m..
Should the company decide to open a permanent store in Fairfield, Hynes said it could be a warehouse or a full price store, or perhaps a blend of the two.
