Fairfield Theatre Company will host a performance by pop musician Sam Sparro 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Doors open 7 p.m.

Music by Australian-born Sparro has a futuristic sound, and he sings like a combination of Jamiroquai, Prince and Freddie Mercury, according to a company news release. His self-titled debut electro-funk album debuted at No. 1 on US iTunes dance charts, selling 260,000 copies.

Early U.S. accolades for Sparro include Rolling Stone, who included "Black and Gold," a song on his self-titled album, on their "Hot List," as well as Billboard, which said, "He can do it all."
