The Fairfield Pre-Teen Players will present a performance of Disney's "The Little Mermaid Jr." at 7 p.m. Friday, July 20, and Saturday, July 21, in the Roger Ludlowe Middle School Auditorium, 689 Unquowa Road.

Each performance will have its own cast of 35 Fairfield elementary and middle school children led by director and producer Christina DeAndrade.

The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school-aged performers and in its 11th production, is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film, according to a news release from the players. It contains the songs from the film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show.

The show is set in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she's the girl with the perfect voice.

Pre-Teen Players is a division of Fairfield Teen Theatre.

The performances are open to the public and admission is $10 per person. The auditorium's box office will open at 6:30 p.m. on both nights.
