FAIRFIELD — Overnight snowfall into early Monday resulted in accumulation of several puffy white inches on the first full day of spring — which seasonally rising temperatures through afternoon had melted nearly all evidence of what (perhaps) was the last gasp of winter weather.

In any case, temperatures are forecast to be on a rapid, spring-like rise over the next several days, with highs cresting in the mid-60s range by Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The rest of the week looks fairly warm and sunny — with the exception of possible showers Friday.
