Railroad buffs, young and old, made tracks for fun to the annual Holiday Express Train Show at the Fairfield Museum and History Center starting last Friday.

The extensive layout for model trains runs throughout the holiday season until Jan. 3 at the musuem, 370 Beach Road.

Train sets — from the miniature HO series operated by the Housatonic Model Railroad Club, to the larger G-Scale trains run by the Connecticut “G” Scalers Club — are set up in the great hall of the museum. The trains clickety-clack through winter lasndscapes featuring snow, miniature houses, evergreens and even teddy bears.

The train show’s opening was scheduled in conjunction with the lighting ceremony of the town’s Christmas tree on nearby Town Hall Green.

The Holiday Express Train Show runs through Jan. 3 at the Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. During the holiday weekends of Dec. 24 and Jan. 1, hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
