An 82-year-old Veres Street resident reported to police that she was scammed out of $2,000 last weekend.

She told officers Monday that a man came to her house Saturday and told her that he had leftover driveway sealer. He offered to seal her driveway for $200. However, after the work was done, she said, he told her that the job actually cost $4,000, but he would charge her $2,000.

According to the report, she wrote him a check for $2,000, made out to "cash."

Police are investigating leads that they say they have in the case.
