Two Bridgeport juveniles were charged Sunday with stealing bicycles from an Old Post Road backyard.

Police tracked the 15-year-old and 16-year-old to the P.T. Barnum housing project in Bridgeport after a witness called to report two teens walking up and down driveways. One was on a bike at the time, the other was not.

The two were found with the two bicycles that had been stolen, according to the report. Two older bikes were left behind in the victim’s yard. One allegedly asked the officer, “You’re not going to arrest us for stealing two bikes, are you?”

Both were charged with sixth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespass. They were released to custody of relatives and are scheduled to appear in juvenile court July 13.
