A man told police he saw another man stealing his wife’s 2008 Mitsubishi from the parking lot of Planet Fitness on Tuesday afternoon, and gave chase in his own car, following it to the P.T. Barnum housing project in Bridgeport.

There, police took Roberto Morales-Rivera, 36,of St. Stephens Road, Bridgeport, into custody.

The drama unfolded around 2 p.m. when the man was in the Planet Fitness parking lot. He saw Morales-Rivera smash the car’s window, according to the report, and Morales-Rivera then took a spare key from the purse inside the car and drove off.

Morales-Rivera was charged with third-degree larceny and second-degree criminal trover. He was held on a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to have been arraigned Wednesday at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
