The event, appropriately, was blessed by some of the nicest weather of this spring.

Members of Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, joined by family and friends, gathered to celebrate the Rev. Alida Ward's 25 years at the congregation last Sunday.

After a round of tributes during the morning worship service at the historic church, parishioners filed outside for a sunny reception feting Ward, the church co-pastor with her husband, the Rev. David Johnson Rowe.

Among the many refreshments at he reception was a cake baked specially for the occasion, which Ward sliced to the cries of, "The pastor cuts the cake."

As a memento of her tenure over the last quarter-century, congregation member Pam Dies with a "Book of Love," featuring photos and memorabilia during her time at Greenfield Hill.
