Ruth Parris Hanrahan

Born July 1, 1923 in Harrow, England, she was the daughter of the late Victor James Parris and Edith Woodward Parris. She served in the Women's Royal Naval Services during World War II.
She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Norwalk and the United Way of Darien and was active in St. Matthew's New Horizons Program.
In addition to her son, she is survived by daughters Laura Butler and her husband, David, of Columbus, Ohio, Martha Spiegel and her husband, William, of Norwalk, and Katherine Hanrahan and her fiancÃ©, Daniel Fagan, of Norwalk; a son, James Hanrahan and his wife, JoAnne, of North Kingstown, R.I.; two granddaughters, Maya and Megan Hanrahan of North Kingstown; and three grandsons, Oliver Butler of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jonathan and Jeffrey Butler of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Peter C. Hanrahan, and a sister, Peggy Parris Gill.
A Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scriber Ave., Norwalk. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
