Sacred Heart University has earned an honorable mention on a third annual list compiled by the Princeton Review saluting the best graduate schools in the U.S. and Canada to offer studies in video game design. The roster, "Top Schools To Study Video Game Design For 2012," includes 32 undergraduate schools and 18 graduate institutions for outstanding game design education programs, according to a university news release.

The Princeton Review chose the schools based on a survey it conducted in the 2011-12 academic year of administrators at 150 institutions offering video game design coursework or degrees in the United States and Canada, the release states. The survey, which included more than 50 questions, covered a wide range of topics from academics, curriculum and faculty credentials to graduates' employment and career achievements. School selections were based on data analyzing the quality of the curriculum, faculty, facilities and infrastructure, plus the schools' scholarships, financial aid and career services.

Sacred Heart's Game Design & Development program, launched last fall after a certificate graduate program debuted in 2010, has had an enrollment of 25 graduate students so far.
