Booked for the weekend.

Pequot Library, home to one of the Northeast's biggest book sales every summer, was again hosting high "volume" crowds Saturday as the Mid-Winter Book Sale opened at the Southport landmark.

The sale is set to continue Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the library, 720 Pequot Ave.

Thousands of books were on offer in categories ranging from classic fiction to mysteries to young adult to biographies to vintage paperbacks and more. Also available were vinyl records, matted prints, audio books, CDs, DVDs, comic books and old magazines.

To celebrate the town of Fairfield's 375th birthday this year, the event also offered a collection of books about the area and its history.

Acoustic guitar and piano music, through the weekend, added to the ambiance for browsers.
