A Westport couple has completed their purchase of a former garden center on the Post Road in the Southport section of town, where they plan to move their food emporium.

Paula and Jason Garelick have closed on the $1 million purchase of the half-acre parcel at 3611 Post Road, according to HK Group, the commercial real estate firm that brokered the deal.

The Garelicks plan to move their Garelick & Herbs food store from Westport to the Southport site was approved by the Town Plan and Zoning Commission last summer.

Plans call for construction of a 4,525-square-foot, one-story retail building with an 800-square-foot basement.

The store's current site on Post Road East in Westport is about three-tenths of a mile from the Southport parcel, which was sold to the Garelicks by Jonathan and Christopher Woods.
