A downtown hair salon said it will donate a portion of its sales for certain services this month to a local breast-health clinic in honor of an employee who died of breast cancer earlier this year.

The Intrigue Hair Salon in the Brick Walk shops on the Post Road said it would donate $5 from every highlighting treatment through Oct. 31 to the Norma Pfriem Breast Care Center on Beach Road.

On Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 23 and 25, the salon said it would offer blowouts for $30 and donate half to the center. It will offer clients wine and cheese from 4 to 8 p.m., the salon said in a news release

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the salon is donating the money in memory of the late Casey Chernes Paules, a Fairfield native and former employee who died in March at age 29, six months after she was diagnosed with the disease.
