Signs delineating the Old Post Road Historic District have gotten the seal of approval from the Board of Selectmen.

Zoe Bebon, representing the Old Post Road Area Association, recently secured permission from the selectmen to use the official town seal on the black-and-white signs.

"We have received acceptance by the Historic District Commission to put the signs up," Bebon said, noting that the Old Post Road district is "really the birthplace of our town" -- the "Four Squares" that were the heart of the Fairfield settlement nearly four centuries ago.

"In essence, the town seal in this instance becomes the town logo," First Selectman Michael Tetreau said. "I also think it is very appropriate to have the Board of Selectmen approve the use of the seal."

Selectman Kevin Kiley thought the signs look "beautiful" and Town Clerk Betsy Browne, who was at the recent meeting, said she had no issues with the seal being used on the neighborhood group's signs.
