Fairfield University's athletic department is courting the town's senior citizens, hoping to enlist them as fans of the Stags women's basketball team and persuade them to attend games.

The team is scheduled to visit the Fairfield Senior Center on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 11:30 a.m. to meet seniors and talk about its season, center officials said. The Stags play some home games on campus at Alumni Hall and others at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.

The center is offering 15 free tickets to seniors for the Friday, Jan. 24 game on campus against Canisius and 18 free tickets to the Stags' Tuesday, Feb. 4 game on campus against Monmouth.

The center said Fairfield residents age 50 or over may reserve tickets by calling 203-254-5102. Preference will be given to center members.

Transportation can be arranged in advance by calling 203-254-5102.

Heading into Thursday night's game against Manhattan, the Fairfield women had an overall record of 8-5.
