A hint of fall -- and shouts of fun -- were in the air Friday evening as Septemberfest opened at Our Lady of Assumption parish for the weekend.

The annual event offered something for everyone: amusement rides, games, prizes, a tag sale, 50/50 raffle, bingo and all kinds of food.

Among the ride favorites provided by Stewart Amusements were the Tornado, Super Glide Cobra, Zero Gravity, Ali Baba, Cliff Hanger, Rock-O-Plane, Jumping Jumbos and, of course, a Ferris wheel.

Games include Ice Breaker, Whack-A-Mole, Hoop Shots, Cork Gun, Rope Ladder and Fish Pong.

And tempted the crowd's tastebuds were popcorn, candy apples, cotton candy, porchetta sandwiches, kielbasa, hot dogs, hamburgers, grinders and pizza fritta, as well as Italian pastries from Luigi's for dessert.

Admission is free; wristbands sold for rides. Proceeds benefit programs at Assumption parish.

Septemberfest continues Saturday from 1 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road.
