Police responding to a call about a possible trespasser at the Fairfield Motor Inn last Thursday afternoon instead found a man wanted for violating his probation and failing to notify State Police of his change of address, according to the report.

Derrick Best, 43, a registered sex offender, was living at Operation Hope, having moved from Bridgeport, which he failed to record with the State Police, prompting them to issue an arrest warrant.

An active warrant issued for his arrest by Bridgeport police for violation of probation.

Best was held on bonds totaling $110,000 and was scheduled to appear Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
