FAIRFIELD — A Shelton woman is facing a charge of driving under the influence after an incident Monday night.
A sergeant on patrol around 9:30 p.m. saw a car on Kings Highway East, near Bed, Bath & Beyond, repeatedly drive forward a few inches and then reverse. When Barbara Ciancio, of Kyles Way, was stopped, police said her speech was slurred and there was an odor of alcohol.
The 58-year-old said she had been at 55 Wine Bar and had a glass of wine, which she said she needed in order to go shopping due to her obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Ciancio, who failed field sobriety tests, was released after posting a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Dec. 18.
