Six out-of-town people were charged after a melee erupted at a Post Road bar early Saturday.
Police were unsure what sparked the fight around 1:30 a.m. in Vinny's Ale House, 93 Post Road, which left three bar employees injured.
However, according to the report, one of the people arrested -- Shelton resident Agustin Cruz -- flashed a silver badge before pushing the bar manager into a booth, and hitting a second man at the bar. Another employee was punched and three women dragged the female bartender across the restaurant by her hair, kicking and hitting her, police said.
Cruz denied that he had indicated he was a police officer, but did tell Fairfield police he was a volunteer firefighter in Trumbull.
The bartender was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport for treatment of scratches on her face, chest and back and a swollen area on her head, police said. Another employee had a one-inch cut on the back of his head and was also taken to the hospital, while a third employee, who suffered swelling and scratches on his face and ear as well as bruising and scratches on his arm, refused treatment.
Cruz, 32, of Valley Road, Shelton, was charged with criminal impersonation. Charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault were: Thomas Chanaca, 31, Burroughs Road, Easton; Gladys Rodriguez, 25, of Avalon Gate, Trumbull; Yulissa Rodriguez, 24, Hollister Street, Stratford, and Claribel Rodriguez, 21, also of Hollister Street, Stratford. Daniel Martinez, 30, of Wheeler Street, Shelton, was charged with third-degree assault.
All six were released on a promise to appear May 1 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
