New York Times best-selling author Colleen Hoover will discuss two of her novels during a visit to the Fairfield Woods Branch Library Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Hoover is scheduled to appear at 7 p.m. at the 1147 Fairfield Woods Road branch.

She will talk about her debut novel, "Slammed," and its sequel, "Point of Retreat."

The program is free, but advance registration is required.

"Slammed" is about a family shattered by the father's sudden death. Eighteen-year-old Layken must provide strength for her mother and younger brother, the library said. Outwardly resilient, she is losing hope, but then a young man arrives in her life.

"Point of Retreat" chronicles the relationship of Layken and the young man, Will, and circumstances that threaten it.

Copies of Hoover's books will be available for purchase and signing, the library said.
