Songwriter to play StageOne

Fairfield Theatre Co. will host a solo performance by songwriter Jon McLaughlin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Doors open 7:30 p.m.

McLaughlin, mid-western born and raised, began piano lessons at a young age and continued music at Anderson University in Indiana. While there, an independent label discovered him after he posted songs on Myspace, which led to signing with Island Def Jam Records after playing a few shows in New York City.

His 2007 debut album "Indiana" and his 2008 "Ok Now" work were released on IslandDef Jam Records, soon after which he performed with the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Adele, One Republic and ColbieCaillat, according to a release. While touring, his albums got placed on television and in movies like "Georgia Rule," "Bridge to Terabithia" and Disney's "Enchanted."

His latest album is "Promising Promises."
